Waltz N°1 Skeleton White

WALTZ N°1 SKELETON

Produced in strictly limited special series of five watches a year, the Waltz N°1 Skeleton is the successful declination of the classic Waltz N°1.

Honoring the brand’s original DNA, the dial has been carefully openworked along the subtle horizontal and vertical lines and is adorned with the iconic rotating seconds-disc at 6 o’clock, which features the identical guilloche-pattern and is thus aligned with the rest of the dial as it waltzes in a perfect circle once per minute.
The dial’s open lines reveal just enough to anticipate the refinement of the ultra-thin skeleton automatic movement VMF 5401/180 by Vaucher Manufacture Fleurier. At the case back, the transparent sapphire glass fully displays the movement’s slender black PVD bridges and angles that have been finished by the hands of master craftsmen in hour-long meticulous precision work. The movement is powered by a decentralized micro-rotor, which is expertly finished with the same perpendicular vertical and horizontal striping as found on the dial and provides 42 hours of autonomy.

The Waltz N°1 Skeleton’s design fluidity was inspired by Austrian architect and designer Adolf Loos, who introduced the golden age of Viennese Modernism. Viennese elegance can be found in every detail of the watch – from the curvature of the sapphire crystal, which matches the side profile of the 41,5mm case, to the sleek integrated lugs, and the applied minute and hour hands, which are set into the dial itself and curved upward to match the slope of the rehaut as it meets the baseband.

SKELETON WATCH WITH STAINLESS STEEL CASE AND WHITE DIAL

The Waltz N°1 Skeleton is skeleton wristwatch by Carl Suchy & Söhne, available only in strictly limited series. The skeletonized automatic watch is handcrafted according to the highest quality standards of Swiss watchmaking.

The dial is partly opened, revealing the skeletonized ultra-thin movement caliber 5401/180 with hand polished and finished black angles. The collector’s watch combines the highest watchmaking expertise with a contemporary design.

The Waltz N°1 Skeleton is the skeletonized version of the classic Waltz N°1. It is available in three color schemes.

MOVEMENT
Die Waltz N°1 Skeleton is equipped with the ultra-thin automatic movement VMF 5401/180. The movement has been open-worked by the hands of master craftsmen, revealing the delicate black bridges and angles. A decentralised micro-rotor provides the watch with a power reserve of 48 hours.

CASE
The skeletonized wristwatch boasts a stainless-steel case playing with the contrast of matte and polished surfaces, creating a sophisticated design. Rounded lugs and smooth design transitions provide maximum comfort. The delicate movement is visible through the sapphire crystal glass case-back.

DIAL
The dial is white. Its characteristic guilloche pattern, which is divided in half by vertical and horizontal striping, is opened along these lines, revealing the movement beneath. The rotating small seconds indicator at 6 o’ clock is cut out of the same striping. It is aligned with the dial’s pattern as it waltzes in a perfect circle once per minute.

STRAP AND BUCKLE
The strap of the automatic skeleton watch is made of high-quality black alligator leather with black stitching. The pattern on the inside of the bracelet was inspired by the minimalist aesthetics of Adolf Loos and was designed especially for Carl Suchy & Söhne. A stainless steel safety buckle, adorned by Carl Suchy & Söhne’s historic double-griffon logo, offers maximum comfort.

About Carl Suchy & Söhne

VIENNESE ELEGANCE SINCE 1822

2017 the Viennese legacy watch brand returned with the „Waltz N°1“

IMPERIAL

Founded in 1822 by Austrian watch-maker Carl Suchy, the renowned watch brand counted the likes of Emperor Franz Joseph, Empress Sisi and Sig- mund Freud amongst his distinguished customers. After one century as the sole watchmaker for the Habsburg roy- alty, Carl Suchy & Söhne disappeared with the demise of the Austro-Hungarian Empire. In 2017, the brand has revived.

VIENNESE MINIMALISM AND SWISS MANUFACTURE

The Viennese legacy brand returned in 2017 with an iconic model: The Waltz N°1, a watch that is inspired by Viennese Modernism and the works of architect Adolf Loos, who marked the golden age of Austrian art. The automatic timepiece features a caliber by Vaucher Manu- facture Fleurier, which is reworked by Swiss watchmaker Marc Jenni, a former member of the Académie Horlogère des Créateurs Indépendants (AHCI). In 2018, the watch brand presented a skeleton version of its best-seller.

VIENNESE ART OF LIVING

Renowned worldwide, the pompous Austrian capital’s coffeehouse culture and the illustrious balls held at the imperial courts have been the basis of the Viennese art of living since the beginning of the 20iest century. With its rotating “Waltzing Disk” in place of the second hand at 6 o’clock, the Waltz 1 and its declinations honor an époque of artistic and intellectual effervescence, in which time counted little: once a minute, its guilloche-pattern on the disc aligns with that of the dial.

CARL SUCHY & SÖHNE THE LEGACY

1796 Carl Suchy was born in Prague, the «royal metropolis» and second cap- ital of the Austro-Hungarian Empire.

1812-1819  Apprentice years with famous German watchmaker Franz Lehner. Wandering years in German and Switzerland, the cradles of Euro- pean watchmaking.

1822  26 -year  old  Suchy  opens his shop in Prague. His technically advanced pendulum and wall clocks match the market-leading English and Swiss models and win countless prizes. Official sup- plier to the Imperial Court since 1835, Suchy has 35 employees and gains a good reputation well beyond the Empire.

1844 Thanks to his watches, which „exceed the highest expectations in regard to elegance and technical per- fection”, Carl Suchy is appointed the first and for many years only “Watch Purveyor to the Royal and Imperial Court”.

1849  As Suchy’s sons join the paren- tal business, „Carl Suchy & Söhne” is founded. The watches are produced in the Austrian manufactory as well as in the Swiss branch and are regularly displayed at world fairs in Paris, London and Vienna.

1863  Carl Suchy & Söhne opens a shop in the center of Vienna and holds the title of Purveyor to the Royal Courts for three generations until the decay of the Habsburg Empire in 1918.

2017  Revived by Robert Punken- hofer, an internationally renowned art and design expert, the Viennese legacy watch brands returns in 2017 to Basel with the Waltz 1, whose skeleton version is presented in Basel in 2018.
