Gerald Charles Unveils the Maestro GC Sport in Optic Yellow: A Bold Fusion of Performance and Elegance

Geneva, 31st March 2025 – Maison Gerald Charles proudly presents its latest timepiece, the Maestro GC Sport Tennis, Ref. GC2.0-TX-TNSB-24GR-RSVC, a striking new addition to the brand’s iconic GC Sport collection. Designed for high-performance athletes while maintaining the Maison’s signature elegance, the timepiece is limited to 200 pieces and features a bold textured dial, yellow like the tennis ball, housed in a lightweight yet robust darkblast® Grade 5 Titanium case.

The Maison has always cherished the legacy it holds in its archives and is committed to the mission of carrying it forward into the future. The Maestro GC Sport features the distinctive Maestro case design, originally conceived by founder Gérald Charles Genta in 2005. Inspiration was also drawn from original sketches and historical timepieces that showcased golf and tennis balls on the dial.

These timepieces are evidence of the Maison’s desire to go back to its roots, celebrating Mr. Genta’s heritage and excellence in fine watchmaking; specifically during the brands 25thanniversary.

A new bold and sporty look to impress
This latest iteration features a sophisticated darkblast® titanium case, combining durability with a sleek, contemporary aesthetic. The vibrant yellow dial, with its grainy texture, not only enhances legibility but also reinforces the watch's sporty character.

This novelty was inspired by the great success of the two now sold-out watches, Maestro GC Sport Clay and Grass, which offered the same textured and graduated finish. The handcrafted finish, is achieved by taking a specially hand-hammered dial base and applying colour and a clear, shiny coating to it, creating the three-dimensional effect.

Complementing the dial is a matching yellow Velcro strap - integrated with a darkblast® buckle - designed for maximum comfort and wearability in the everyday life. Made in-house in Geneva, the Maison aimed to recreate a porous effect on the strap, similar to that of the dial. The R&D team also included an easy removal system, so customers are able to change the strap on their own.

Precision, Performance, and Elegance on the Court
The Maestro GC Sport has been rigorously tested and approved by professional tennis players, proving its resilience in high-intensity conditions. The watch features a left-hand crown, strategically positioned to prevent rubbing during tennis matches, allowing for uninterrupted performance.

Built with 5G shock resistance, the timepiece can withstand extreme forces, ensuring unwavering precision even under the most intense impacts. Thanks to its ultra-light titanium case, the watch weighs only 64 grams, making it exceptionally comfortable and ergonomic.

“The decision to create a strong connection with the sport of tennis is rooted in the year of the brand's relaunch, 2019. I had to figure out how to make customers feel the extreme ergonomics of the watch despite the absence of a retailers’ network at the time. Tennis requires strength, precision and technical skills while being an elegant and classy sport, such as our timepieces. To communicate the right values, the solution was to let athletes test and wear the watch during matches. If professional players wear the watch on the court, this can only be evidence of extreme comfort.”, says Federico Ziviani, Gerald Charles CEO.

Versatility and comfort are fundamental values at Gérald Charles, so much so that the Maison’s R&D team has developed a unique standard, ErgonTeq®. This innovative engineering technique ensures the lugs, case, and strap sit ergonomically on the wrist, adapting to both large and small wrists. It also maximizes surface contact, enhancing stability and optimizing weight distribution for unparalleled comfort.

A Fusion of Sport and Swiss Craftsmanship
At its heart, the watch is powered by a high-performance in-house developed movement, the Swiss Manufacture 2.0 Caliber, guaranteeing exceptional accuracy and reliability. The oscillating weight is engraved with a special 25th-anniversary logo, a unique opportunity for this year only.

The movement is just 3.7mm thick and yet delivers 50 hours of power from a twin-barrel system and incorporates an Incabloc® anti-shock system. Furthermore, as all Gerald Charles watches, it ensures 100 mt/10 ATM water-resistance.

With the Maestro GC Sport Tennis, Gerald Charles reaffirms its commitment to pushing the boundaries of horology. This model is a testament to the brand’s ability to merge cutting-edge technology, performance, and timeless design.

Timeline

2000
Foundation of the Maison
Mr. Gérald Charles Genta founded Gerald Charles, giving the Maison his first two names.

2001
Gerald Charles Renaissance
Renaissance is the first Gerald Charles collection, whose name perfectly describes Mr. Genta’s artistic revival. The collection is a bolder expression of the soft line which Mr. Genta was always particularly fond of.

2003
Mr. Genta as Designer in Chief
Mr. Gérald Charles Genta sold the company to a group of investors, led by the Ziviani family, and remained Designer in Chief until 2011, with Mr. Giampaolo Ziviani as General Manager. 2005
Gerald Charles Maestro
Mr. Gérald Charles Genta introduced the Maestro case, an iconic case made to last for future generations, whose shape lies between a square and an octagon. He took inspiration from the 17th century baroque architecture, realised by the Swiss-born Italian architect Francesco Borromini. The ‘smile’ at 6 o’clock is a subtle reflection of the concavity on the monuments’ façades.

2011
Production of bespoke timepieces
Between 2011 and 2018, the Maison produced bespoke timepieces for a niche of collectors. Some of Mr. Genta's early creations had the designer's signature engraved on the case back, as an artwork of an artist.

2019
Federico Ziviani as CEO
A new management took part in the Maison with a Board of Director and Federico Ziviani as CEO. The common mission has been opening up the story of Gerald Charles to a wider audience of collectors, increasing the production from a few dedicated pieces to 1.500 pieces a year.
